Resources

Assessment, intervention, training & support.

The Leiamos platform organises its resources into four areas, to follow the child from assessment through to intervention.

Assessment tools

What gets measured, and when.

The platform assesses pre-reading skills, reading skills, and reading age at three points: initial assessment, mid-cycle assessment, and final assessment. Assessments follow the pace of the school year.

  • Pre-reading skills

What the child already hears and tells apart in the sounds of words, before they can read.

  • Reading skills

How the child reads words and pseudowords: whether they can decode them alphabetically and orthographically.

  • Reading age

The age the child's reading corresponds to, compared with the one expected for their age.

Reports and diagnostics

The Leiamos app produces reports for teachers, educators, and parents: monitoring and prescribing interventions, with specific information per child (parents) or per class (teacher/educator), pointing to intervention plans tailored to the needs identified.

Intervention plans

The platform generates detailed reports indicating, for each skill, an intervention plan tailored to building up the weaker skills identified in the assessment.

Virtual setting

Every game, up close.

An interactive platform with games structured in increasing order of complexity, driven by an algorithm sensitive to each child's learning pace, with immediate feedback and a reward system.

Pesca

Word-initial sound

Every level has a fisherman (a frog, a seal… and the sound their name begins with). Fish swim past carrying pictures, and the child casts the hook at the ones starting with that same sound. Four right catches win the level.

Caderneta dos Sons

Word-initial sound

Six pictures in an album and, beside them, face-down cards. The child turns a card over and carries it to the picture starting with the same sound. Each match sticks the card to the page and plays the sound they share.

O Intruso

Word-initial sound — spotting the odd one out

Five pictures hang on a wall: four begin with the same sound and one does not. The child hears the odd one’s sound and drags it to the door. Seven rounds per level, and the sound changes each round.

Bingo

Written words — decoding

Here the words appear in writing. A word is spoken (never shown in writing) and the child has ten seconds to find it on the card. If the spoken word isn’t on the bingo card, it goes in the bin. Nine hits make “Bingo!”.
